About

Patricia Poulin

I prefer to get out an experience the world first hand and an open mind. From an early age I began cultivating a profound love for the wilderness and the feeling of being outside of my comfort zone while experiencing new lands. The past six years of my life have been spent experiencing adventure within the wilderness (in many forms) while also sharing that passion with others as an outdoor educator and freelance writer.

Recently I spent 365 (plus) days experiencing small mountain town living while wandering deep into the wilds of the San Juan Mountains while taking in all four seasons. Prior to falling in love with southwest Colorado, I had spent a couple of months of the road traveling through the expansive southwest and then west into the eastern Sierra. Previous adventures also include spending several months navigating crystal blue Caribbean waters with teenagers aboard 50′ sailboats in the British Virgin Islands and traveling by thumb, bus, and the seat of my pants through portions of Mexico and Central America.  As fate would have it, summer of 2011 found me working, climbing, mountain biking, backpacking, and spring skiing in and around Mt. Rainier National Park.

As of winter 2012 I am back on the road with my faithful four legged companion, Sienna, in search of deep powder, large mountains, and FAT ice! When I start losing sensation in my fingers and toes I have been chasing the sun in the granite playgrounds located within the southwestern corner of the states. I was also chosen as one of fourteen Smartwool Athlete Ambassadors for 2012, you can follow the adventure over at the Smartwool blog!

I love comments, emails, and discussion from readers, fellow adventurers and the like! Even a simple hello always puts a smile upon my face.
